A great day!

Well...I just had a wonderful day! For the first time I actually really feel good, confident and a little relaxed about this pregnancy. I am starting to really believe that I may actually be able to make it, like maybe things are going to be OK...
I had my follow up appointment with Dr. K today and I actually have been feeling pretty good so I believed things were going to be OK. I am pretty sore still but considering what he did I feel pretty good. I did find out Monday that he actually put two different cerclages in...the best he could do! First and foremost the nurse comes right out and tells me that I just had the best doctor in Atlanta do my cerclage and that she has never seen one of his cerclages not hold (maybe she gets paid to say that but it made me feel good anyways). Then she did the ultra sound and the baby looked PERFECT, the fluid was perfect and just the right amount (I had excessive fluid around the triplets adding to the pressure), the heartbeat was good and strong and the baby was face down hiding it's face from us...BEST news of all - my cervix measured 4.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I realize you all probably don't want to know about my cervix and I personally never thought I would be so excited about my own cervix but when you have my "issues" your cervix becomes your very best friend and you bargain and plead with it like you have never before. The nurse said even if I had a huge loss of cervix it would still be an awesome cervix. I was never over 3.5 with the triplets and they don't want you below 3 really (just to give you a reference). Anyways, Dr. K was so happy and said that everything looked great. He told me to enjoy things for awhile and that for the next few weeks I don't have to be on so much restriction - YEAH! I will still be taking it easy but at least I feel a little less scared. I start the P17 shots a week from Monday, those are oil based progesterone shots that go in the back hip muscle. These shots have been proven to greatly reduce contractions and an irritable uterus so I am all for starting them. Luckily Jeff has had so much practice we can do them at home! It sounds like next week I can skip the doctor because we are going out of town but that is the last week I am allowed to skip. I am feeling so excited today (in case you couldn't tell) and I am going to thoroughly enjoy my week in North Carolina with Jeff's family next week! I will also start posting some pictures, my belly is really poking out but I am SO much smaller than I was at this point with the triplets.
OK Jeff is waiting on me to spend some QT so I am off for tonight, just wanted to give you all an update from my awesome day. Please keep those prayers coming, we are getting really close to our critical time.
Have a great night,
Katie
