There is a giant in my tummy...

OK for those of you who don't know me very well, I am normally not a very big person and I am apparently having a HUGE baby! Thank goodness I will not be going to 40 weeks or I would be getting a little scared. I had a really good appointment today with Dr. Korotkin. The baby is measuring 4 lbs, which is amazing! He/She is measuring at 32 weeks and 2 days and technically I am 29 weeks and 4 days. I asked Dr. K why the baby was so big when Katelyn was only 6.9 when she was born. He said it is because I have not been allowed to have any physical activity and my sister was allowed to walk everyday, he said this baby is just getting all the nutrition since I can't exert it any other way - which is fine with me, the bigger the better!! Dr. K came in and said "it's almost over Katie, if you worst case had this baby today, it would be OK", he is just so sweet and sensitive to how scared I am and how ready I am to hold this baby in my arms. The ultra sound today was amazing, the baby has some serious cheeks and was opening and closing his/her eyes the whole time. I also was able to see the chest going up and down which tells us the baby is practicing breathing. And he/she has hair already, it was really cool to see that! My cervix has gone down to 3.3 and that was a little unsettling to me, Dr. K said he wasn't worried at all but I don't want it to change anymore. That is lower than I was the week before I delivered the triplets and while I know this is different, I still don't want to see that low of a number yet. I would really like to make it a good 4 more weeks if not 8, I want to bring this baby home with me when I leave the hospital, not to ask for too much here but that is what I really want - a normal experience if I can. Dr. K wanted to put me on the monitors for awhile so we could watch my contractions as well as the baby. They ended up having to shock the poor baby and I had to drink some apple juice to get the readings where they wanted them to be but then everything looked perfect with the baby. They thought he/she was probably needing some food since I hadn't eaten in awhile. The contractions were pretty good, I had just had my morning dose of 20mg of Procardia so that helped. I didn't ever get the flat line that I love to see but it was mostly just irritability which I had constantly with the triplets. I only had two good ones in the 20 minutes so that was really nice to see. Dr. K said I could come back next week on Friday to make sure there are no changes and we will just get through the next few weeks! It was a very thorough appointment and really another very good one. I was just so shocked to hear how big the baby already was, I am so happy - if he/she comes early I do want the baby to be as big as possible. I am really going to take it easy for the next four weeks, to allow my cervix as much rest as possible and allow this baby to grow as much as he/she can before we meet him/her. Because I have to have an epidural to get the cerclage out, they will induce me on the same day that they remove the cerclage, the goal is to make it as close to 38 weeks as possible which means I have 8 weeks left at the most, I can hardly believe it!!
All in all it was another great week, I am getting really excited, scared and emotional. I can't believe that we have made it this far and that this dream is about to come true, we are so ready to close this chapter in our lives and start living with our family complete! What an amazing God we have!
