"Modified" Bed rest...

Well the dreaded day has arrived...bed rest! My appointment went really well today, my cervix looked great and most importantly the girlies all looked great! However I have been having a lot of pressure and braxton hicks contractions over the past few days so Dr. Grogan insisted I be on modified bed rest starting today. She isn't worried about the braxton hicks as they are not making me dilate and they really aren't that consistent, as long as they stay that way we are good. My uterus did measure 29 weeks pregnant today so she thinks my body is acting as if I am 29 weeks and starting the braxton hicks early. The pressure is getting to be a lot on my little body! I asked her to clarify "modified bed rest" and she said it means up to shower and eat breakfast in the morning, horizontal till lunch, up to eat lunch, horizontal till dinner, up for dinner and horizontal till the morning and she said getting up to eat lunch does not mean starting a load of laundry, emptying the dishwasher, etc. does she know me or what? She also said I should already have full time help with Katelyn - no lifting her, that is what kills me, how will I survive this? I haven't started my bed rest today, I wanted to pick Katelyn up at her school and I just wasn't prepared, but I will start tomorrow and will be diligent and every time I get upset I will be thankful that I am at least at home and not in the hospital where I can't be with Katelyn everyday, I will also thank God every day that these babies are in me and healthy...Like I have said many many times, I would have laid in bed for 10 years to have Katelyn in my life - it is no different with these girls! So I will be busy over the next few days coordinating schedules for Katelyn and figuring out how our lives will function for the next three months. We are also working on getting wireless in our house so I can email, blog and play online all day long!
Thanks for all your continued thoughts and prayers, we so appreciate how gracious everyone has been. It is overwhelming the people who have offered to help and we appreciate each and every one of your offers, Lord knows we will need it all!

Great news on the computer set up! That should help you pass the time. Hang in there. I can't imagine how hard that is. I only had to do it for two days. UGH.

You have a great attitude. Do not lose it during this difficult time. Maybe you and Katelyn could find ways to play in the bed....reading, games, nap time, coloring. I guess the last thing you want in there is more kids toys. Best of luck.

Katie, I think you look awesome and are doing great! You joke that you are "so big", but check me out at 29 weeks. Pretty similar, huh?
